Casting Updates and the Camera

As-salaamu alaikum,

Alhamdulillah, yesterday we had a brother who acted in Rush Hour 2 and is a standup comic named Omar Regan come over to audition for one of the roles. He did a stellar performance and I and Khaleel were quite impressed. He is a natural and we are glad to have him on board.

As mentioned previously in the last post, Brother Saad Imam had purchased the Canon HV20. Insha Allah it will arrive in a few days and once it does, the next step would be Saad Imam coming down here to LA with the camera so we can begin filming.

Assalum 'alaykum,
I hope inshallah all will go well and to plan.

Just a small point i wanted to make,iv had a quick look through the whole blog, and i think you havnt put the whole script/scenes up but just a few scenes,am i right?

I think it may be best not to put the whole plan and everthing on the blog.As that was what we did when we were trying to put the Ummah film script for the reminder video by the viewers together. And we put it on the blog and it got picked to peices(thats probably because we dint have much experience but still!).And also it leaves it as a surprise for the viewers, instead of imagining what it will be like and then to get something else, if you get what i mean.

I havnt been checking out the blog so much for Going up North, but seeing the post on the Reminders blog, with the little info there was,it was enough, and now im looking forward to seeing it inshallah and it sounds really good!

Any how I hope Allah makes it Easy to film and successful.Aameen.
Jazakhallah khair.

Wa alaikum salaam,

Thanks for the comment. Actually, you bring up a good point that I already took into consideration a while ago. Of course I did not put up the whole script or even plot summary on the blog. What I did was give a general outline plot summary that soon after was revised and even more detailed (of course I didn't put that one up on the blog).

I am definitely into giving the viewers a surprise. The movie I believe (and I am not being naive and idealistic) will be interesting and cutting edge insha Allah. Not to reveal too much details, but I want to make this movie to have a positive effect on pop culture. My film is for everyone, but MAINLY targetted to non-Muslims. We have made videos that mainly focused on Muslims and what they need to do but this one is for trying to give the true and positive picture of Islam and Muslims, particular those in America and in a post 9-11 world.
