Budget for 'Going Up North'

As-salaamu alaikum,

We are trying to keep the budget for the movie under a 1000 bucks. Since the cast and crew will work on a credit-only basis, our main focus is the camera equipment. We plan to get a shotgun mic, clapboard and of course a camcorder.

The hardest part so far is finding what camcorder to get. Since I want a "Blair Witch Project" look, a good camcorder with good picture and an audio jack so that I can hook up a shotgun mic. So if anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to post them in the comment section!

When it comes to the "look and feel" of the blair witch project, there are a couple things to keep in mind.

They used a hi8 camera which they bought from best buy, and returned it within the 30 day warantee period -- that way camera cost is $0.00

Blairwitch budget was $60,000: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0185937/business

Some technical details as to equipment they used: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0185937/technical

also...although the blair witch project had a 'small' budget...they had a paid cast and crew: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0185937/fullcredits -- you'll notice that there are a lot of 'special thanks' these are the people that helped in the process

techincal equipment I personally would recommend to achieve the 'look'

2 consumer grade cameras (hi8, minidv) -- each equipped with a polarizing filter, and wide angle lens

For shotgun mic:
- camera 1: Sennheiser MKE 300
- camera 2: Audio Technica ATR-55 (good for distance sound)

Asalam alaikum,

for reasonable price, try to get a camcorder that has at least 3CCD chip! Check eBay.
