Can't Get Any More Interesting: Another Delay

As-salaamu `alaikum,

Another delay regarding the camera. There was a problem with the company that one of the brothers tried to order the camera from; they didn't have the camera in stock!!!

And as a result, there was a delay in ordering the camera and the brother was not able to come to LA for the shoot.

Oh well, that's life. Sabrun Jameelun (patience is beautiful).

But alHamdulillah, everything else is ready. Cast and crew, and possibly more cast insha Allah.

Oh that's horrible! I hope you can find another camera, inshallah - you may want to check out other retail establishments? Well I wish you all the best!

by what i understand so far, this is your first film and it deals mostly inside of a car. isn't it better to get another decent camera (even if it s not HD) so you can at least get this film going. otherwise, the waiting game can only go on for so long until your cast and crew get a different project to work on.

HD only make sense if you decide to show it on a HD screen but since most of the audience is on the web, you'll need to compress the final footage anyways which is why it doesn't make sense to record it in HD. the way i figure it is that its better to get SOMETHING done...than to sit around posting one delay after another because people lose hope. not just the people waiting but the cast and crew too.

motivation goes down just as fast as it goes up so i don't think you can afford siting around expect everyone to wait for this camera.

ali's videos are pretty simple but its his content that makes it appealing, not his camera. if your content is better than his, then you can have even more viewers watching your film but if you're relying on the camera to pull off a miracle...we'll that doesn't seem to be happening. plus, based on your pic you have a regular computer. an HD camera requires a big time computer to edit and special software as well that supports HD. otherwise, you'll end up like many amateur film people (filming a movie and having the raw footage sit on your shelf because you didn't plan out the post production)

btw, you constantly have been pitching us the HIGH QUALITY style that you are filming in. Do you have any previous films that reflect your unique style that you have hyped. if so, please post it so we can learn.

couldn't you just go with another camera? is having THAT camera so important that the project can be canceled over it?

it's just a camera

one more thing...the camera itself is the not the main thing -- its how you USE the camera that makes the camera visually appealing.

have you thought of allowing someone else to direct the film and maybe you to produce it. if so, then that would give them the incentive to use come on board and use their camera.

As salaamu alaikum "anonymous",

I have absolutely no plans to cancel the project. The project is currently being "delayed" due to the camera issue. But actually, I pushed back the filming towards the end of Ramadan. I am coordinating with UCLA MSA regarding filming so the schedule fits pretty well.

Regarding why I want a certain kind of camera, I want to focus on having not just good content but good quality. I do not want to take shortcuts and say the content should be the only thing we need to worry about.
