The Style of "Going Up North"

As salaamu `alaikum,

After deep thought and consideration, I want "Going Up North" to have a combination of different styles of filmmaking so it can bring out an interesting and even unique experience.

From day one, I wanted to allow ad-libbing and improvisation to give the actors the freedom to express themselves the best way they see fit according to the scene.

Here is the style: "The Office" mixed with "Curb Your Enthusiasm" set in a car full of practicing Muslims on a road trip to an Islamic conference.

Now imagine that...

Sounds great...but what about the logistics of girls and guys in a car together. That's gonna be hard to portray Islamically....they could be brothers and sisters (as in a girl is with her bro and his friends or whatever), but keep in mind that it is going to be hard to deliver. Maybe they could be with some adults, like an imam or some other spiritual leader. Just an idea.

But I'm definitely liking the idea!

As salaamu `alaikum,

Reality is dictated in this case by the situation. I am mostly changing this to an all-guys film for several reasons:

Logistically it's easier, plus one of the female writers/producers of this movie is no longer working with us. So I might make an announcement soon regarding this.
